Indications

• Provides 2 grams of plant sterols per serving. The NIH recommends consumption of 2 grams of plant sterols to promote healthy cholesterol levels. Foods containing at least 0.65 g per serving of plant sterol esters, eaten twice a day with meals for a daily total intake of at least 1.3 g as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.
• Supplies a low-glycemic-index formula for cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome patients.
• Provides a full complement of vitamins and minerals, including non-dairy calcium and chromium.

Description

UltraMeal Plus is designed to nutritionally manage conditions associated with altered metabolic function. This medical food is designed for use with patients who may be metabolically challenged by obesity, metabolic syndrome or have compromised cardiovascular function. UltraMeal Plus—along with a low-glycemic-index dietary program and regular exercise—has been clinically tested in metabolic syndrome subjects and shown to improve 14 biochemical markers related to altered metabolic function.

Dose

Blend, shake, or briskly stir about 2 level scoops (48 grams) of UltraMeal Plus into 8 fluid ounces of chilled water twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Potential side effects/Safety

WARNING: Excess vitamin A intake may be toxic and may increase the risk of birth defects. Pregnant women and women who may become pregnant should not exceed 5000 IU of preformed vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) per day.
