This is magnesium bound to orotic acid. Orotic acid is used to make the building blocks of DNA, and in animals, orotate increases the heart’s energy stores and energy levels, and increases its protein synthesis. Dr. Hans Nieper, the innovative German physician, used it to treat or prevent the following conditions: atherosclerosis, kidney failure from diabetes or high blood pressure, viral diseases, heart attacks and blood clots. Nieper considered orotates to be superior to carbonates, chlorides, sulfates, and other anions as bioavailability enhancers for minerals like magnesium.
