Each 1/8 tsp (1.0 g) contains:
Sodium Bicarbonate 1000 mg
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) provides dietary bicarbonate, which can increase serum levels of bicarbonate and subsequently buffer acid production in the body. The main mechanism of action is in negating the effects of acidosis. It has been used to treat heartburn, indigestion, ulcers and upset stomach. It is a very quick-acting antacid and should be used only for temporary relief.

Sodium bicarbonate should not be used at high levels in persons with salt-sensitive hypertension. Drug interactions exist. Caution with high doses. GI symptoms may occur.
